How to use the T-Post Puller

Step 1

Place the bottom of the T-post Puller beside the T-post, as close as possible from the bottom of the post (about 6inches).

Then, lean it against the Post. Line the cross bar of the T-post Puller up as pictured, right above the nub.

Step 2

Put your foot on the T-Post Puller and push back on the top of the T-Post until the T-post nub clicks into place.

Step 3

Pull the T-post back toward you, while your foot is holding the bottom of the puller in place.

Step 4

Continue to push back and forth until the T-post is removed.

Congrats, you have freed your first T-post without any heavy tools or even a tractor!

Mastering the T-Post Puller: Two Common Mistakes

#1 Move Closer to the T-post

The most common mistake is incorrect angle. If you’re struggling to pull a t post move the base closer. It is not uncommon to be almost touching the t-post on hard ground.

#2 Leverage starts with the push

Leverage is established with the initial push. If nothing happens when you pull back, it’s likely because it ‘clicked’ too early. Position the crossbar higher on the nub, so it takes a further push to click into place. The furthest point you can flex the T-post back is where you want the ‘click’ to happen. Then, when you pull, the leverage will force the post up and out.

Practice Makes Perfect!

We recommend starting on a post in soft soil or to drive a shallow post to get the hang of it. Once you’ve got it down, you’ll be amazed at how many posts you can remove! Here we removed a T Post 2ft in the ground with roots holding it in.

If your soil is so hard a gas operated driver or tractor is required to drive the T-Post, our puller might not be the best choice. While it can work in a pinch, it is difficult and may bend the T-Post. Thus it is not recommended. Your T-Posts don’t have nubs.
