Upgrade your oak barrel by replacing the bung and spigot with a Thousand Oaks Barrel Co. Bung and Spigot Set designed for 10 and 20 liter barrels. This set includes a packet of 3 storing tablets for cleaning and sanitizing your barrel when it’s not in use.
With time and use, bungs and spigots wear out, impacting the quality of your spirits and the lifespan of your barrel. To maintain optimal performance, we recommend replacing these parts annually. Our bungs and spigots are handcrafted from American white oak to the same high standards as our barrels.
Storing Tablets are pre-measured sulfite doses that prevent the growth of wild yeast and microbes inside the barrel. To use, dissolve the tablets in hot water, pour the solution into the barrel, and top off with water. Store in cool, damp conditions, rinse three times before refilling with spirits.
Since most Thousand Oaks Barrels are new wood Bourbon barrels, pre-treating with storing tablets is not necessary before use. However, always clean the barrel after emptying to prevent contamination. Whiskey barrels (reclaimed wood barrels) should be cleaned before each use. Keep spirits in the barrel or fill with water and storing tablet mixture.

1 Tablet – 1-3 Liter Barrel
2 Tablets – 5 Liter Barrel
3 Tablets – 10 Liter Barrel
5 Tablets – 20 Liter Barrel
Ensure your aging barrels are airtight and leak-free with a 3/4″ American white oak bung. Pair with a premium quality, 3/4″ barrel spigot for easy pouring. Remember to remove the bung to release air pressure before using the spigot.
The bung and spigot fit a 3/4″ hole and feature a rubber ring for a tight seal. Replace the bung annually for a secure closure. Additionally, the kit includes 3 storing tablets for barrel maintenance when not in use.
