What is aerial hoop?
Aerial Hoop or Lyra is a hoop suspended on a rope made of strong material (usually steel or aluminum) and can be hollow or solid inside. Aerial acrobatics on a hoop combines strength, elegance, and flexibility. Aerial hoop strengthens the whole body, especially the upper and middle parts, improves balance, range, and grace of movement.
Selecting an Aerial Hoop
Measurements are taken from the inner diameter to ensure the correct distance from your head to the upper bar. Properly sizing an aerial hoop or Lyra comes down to personal preference and comfort.
When selecting an aerial hoop, consider the number of points (0 point, single, or double point) based on your intended use and comfort level. Double point hoops allow for extra poses on the top bar with less overall movement, while single point hoops rotate more but require less space.
The complete aerial hoop setup includes a lyra/aerial ring, attachment carabiners, a swivel, and a 3-foot long spanset, load tested to 300kg. The standard aerial hoop is made from hollow steel tube with a width of 32mm and comes in various sizes to fit different performers.
For single point lyra sets, you will receive three carabiners, one swivel, and one 3 ft spanset. For double point lyra sets, you will receive four carabiners, one swivel, and two 3ft spansets. Tabless lyra sets include two carabiners, one swivel, and one spanset for rigging in most venues. Add Stainless Steel Lyra (32mm Tube Dia) &Carabiners&Swivel& 3ft Spanset to your aerial rings equipment for a complete Lyra Aerial Hoop Kit.
